dsm - petersonCarnegie10David Stone Martin (1913-1992) created fabulous graphics on over 400 album covers, many for the Jazz giants of the 20th century. His most prolific period of illustration was during the 1940s to 1950s but he is also responsible for many of the truly lasting images on magazine covers of the 1960’s and 70’s  A quick google search for his images will lead you to many of the Jazz greats and a few of the forgotten ones. There is no telling where his name will lead you to. Check out the Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday LP covers for some truly iconic images.  You will also find a number of covers he designed for the Jazz At The Philharmonic series and the one for Canadian Oscar Peterson (pictured above).
