Unfortunately, the 1976 Montreal Olympics will be remembered as the only Olympics in history in which the host nation did not win a gold medal. Canada’s best finish that year was a silver medal awarded to Greg Joy in the men’s high jump. Fortunately however, the Canadian government did commission a series of posters by notable Canadian artists to commemorate the event. Jacques Hurtibise (1939) along with a number of other prominent Canadian artists, including Claude Tousignant, Michael Snow, and Guido Molinari, created a series of 11 posters for 1976 Montreal Olympics.
